Jessica + Ben’s Engagement Session–Lake Lanier

I’m very excited to show these pictures! Jessica and Ben are a wonderfully sweet couple getting married next month at Lake Lanier Islands. They came my way through Susan Graham, one of my favorite planners in Atlanta. They wanted to have their session at the spot where Ben proposed to Jessica–on her parents lakefront property. So away we went…

It was a glorious evening, and Jessica looks gorgeous and like the sun is actually kissing her here:

They stopped for a break near the point where Ben gave Jessica her ring.

Ben gave Jessica her pomeranian Coco for their first dating annniversary, more than five years ago. She’s a great little pup, who posed beautifully despite her clear desire to get in the lake for a swim.

Jessica’s new last name will be Frye, so they both sported their Frye boots for the shoot. It’s the little things, right?

I love how sweetly she’s gazing at Ben here.

I think this will be Ben’s favorite. “Man Pose.”

She loves him! She really really does! Doesn’t he have a great smile?

Color Inspiration from a Georgia Peach

I found inspiration at the breakfast table this morning when I sliced into a gorgeous Georgia peach. The color combination was just exquisite–a deep pink-red surrounded by a golden yellow. I think it would be just beautiful for a southern summer wedding–cheery pops of color for a bridal gown sash, a pomander, or against a creamy frosted cake. I took a quick pic with my phone–I think you’ll get the idea.

Tiffany & JR’s Rustic Country Engagement Session in Atlanta

I am so delighted to be working with Tiffany and JR on their wedding next January. Doubly excited that I’ll also get to work with Susan Graham, one of my favorite wedding planners in Atlanta. The wedding Tiffany and JR have envisioned has a decidedly ‘city’ feel to it… but since JR is originally from Texas, they wanted a country setting for their engagement session, and they wanted to include their dog Riley. So we struck out to a private property I love to capture the rustic feel they wanted. It was blazing hot, but there was a lake, a bottle of Coca-Cola and cowboy boots involved, so I gotta say, it felt like an authentic summer afternoon in the country.

It’s a well-done show that’s chock-full of great information for brides-to-be. Lindsay to Appear on Get Married TV!

I’m going back to my roots with a TV appearance! Got word this week that a segment I taped recently at the Get Married studios will air this coming Saturday morning (4/24) at 9:30 on WE. Tune in to see me talk about some hot wedding trends, along with the fabulous Elly B and some other wedding industry experts!

Oddly enough, I won’t be able to watch the show this week as I’ll be running in my first ever half-marathon. At the time the show airs, I assure you it is entirely possible that I may be desperately wishing I was on the couch watching, instead of pounding the pavement! I’ll post the clip of the show here afterward… along with how I did in the race.

The Art of Weddings

The Art of Weddings was one of the most creative parties I’ve been to in a while. It was designer and Project Runway alum Heidi Elnora’s answer to a traditional runway show to debut her spring 2010 collection. Held at The Lowe Gallery in Midtown, each gown was the spotlight in a vignette inspired by the artwork in the gallery. Heidi wasn’t the only one inspired–check out the awesome work of the floral and beauty artists who took part!

Love the floral here by Foxgloves and Ivy. And The Moore Agency just knocked it out of the park with that hair!

My Twitter friend Sharon of Sweet Sensations produced this cake. Magnificent.

Danny Wilson of the Savage Garden did that cocoon of flowers in the back… see how it mirrors what Mary Jane Starke did for the model’s hair?

From Now to Wow Participant: Jen Boaz

I met Jen Boaz last spring through a mutual friend and was immediately charmed… by her jewelry. Okay, she’s pretty sassy herself, but I LOVE her work. It is so unique and bold, and definitely wedding-day worthy. She’ll be displaying jewelry and talking to all the brides who come to From Now to Wow this Sunday. Here’s a little glimpse into what makes Jen Boaz tick.

Lindsay: What inspires you to create?

Jen: After 8 years of designing I’m still inspired by my clientele and admirers. It’s always inspiring to have the ability to create new and innovative pieces that will exceed their expectations. I have to create new, innovative designs that leave my customers wanting more and in touch with the latest style ! Knowing they will be wearing an original Jen Boaz design is extremely gratifying. My jewelry is the final touch that completes your look I’m confident that if I design it… you will love it! Without it, you’re simply a lost cause!

Lindsay: You’re sassy, Jen! I notice it especially in the names you give your jewelry. How do you come up with them?

Jen: I always have a pen and paper around! I listen to lots of music when I am designing and sometimes it’s just straight from my brain!

Lindsay: What is it that brides love the most about your jewelry?

Jen: My jewelry is something you can wear at your wedding as well as being able to flaunt it after. It’s personal; it fits each bride or bridesmaids personality. I like to say that it puts the spark in sparkle and it captures the true glow in their pictures! And even better–it’s something sassy and super special to remember your wedding by. What more could you want for that final touch?
